Urban Gospel Choir is about to blow up the music landscape this summer after their recent recording at Abbey Road Studios and appearances at the BAFTAS and the London 2012 Olympic closing ceremony. This London-based group has shared the stage multiple times with singers as diverse as Paloma Faith, Take That, George Michael, Muse, The Who, and The Kaiser Chiefs, to mention a few. This is due to their unique style and superb voices.
Urban Gospel Choir combines their rich vocals with an arresting visual picture to produce a singular sound that blends conventional gospel with soulful harmonies. The Urban Gospel Choir guarantee to bring the house down with their contagious energy and exceptional performance, whether they are opening for some of the biggest musicians in the world, headlining at a renowned venue in their hometown, or doing a small wedding gig.
The collective, which Karl Willett founded in 2006, consists of vocalists from a range of musical backgrounds, including recording artists and church singers, and it brings together some of London's best and most versatile vocal talent. Urban Gospel Choir has performed both live and in the studio, and their credits include working with the London Symphony Orchestra, recording with renowned producer and composer David Arnold (best known for penning the music for three James Bond films and collaborating with major recording artists like Bjork, kd lang, Pulp, and Damian Rice), providing background vocals for Paloma Faith's most recent album "Fall To Grace," and creating their own gospel rendition of the national anthem. The 2012 Paralympic Games recording session with Coldplay and a special invitation to play for Boris Johnson at the Majors Christmas Carol Concert are among the other recent initiatives.
Best Practice: The Choir Master coordinated the choir for the 2018 Royal Wedding and has experience working on high-profile occasions.
UVCollective members were honoured to perform as guests on Premiere Gospel Radio and continue to work with & support a number of charities including Marie Curie Cancer Trust, The Teenage Cancer Trust, The British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research UK, and most recently fronting the IF Campaign charity single. UVCollective members performed "Stand By Me" for Harry and Meghan's Wedding, which was curated by UVC's Bim Amoako Urban Gospel Choir.
