The energetic Lily String Quartet is a chamber group that is committed to excellence. This 2005-formed Canadian four is regarded as one of Western Canada's best ensembles by both reviewers and audiences. Elisa, Diane, Patricia, and Andrea, the members of this linguistic quartet, are among the best chamber players in Canada.
Whether they are from the prairies of Alberta, the bustle of Calgary, or the beauty of Québec City, these women have combined their diverse backgrounds to create a cohesive and alluring sound. Individually trained at some of North America's top universities and conservatories, the members of String Quartet Canada bring a lot of knowledge and experience to the group.
The String Quartet frequently gives performances in Calgary and elsewhere. The 2013–14 season featured concerts in both Alberta and British Columbia, a recital performance for The Instrumental Society of Calgary, and collaborations with the piano, bass, and harp. Performances for the CBC, Sled Island Festival, Lake Louise "Ice Magic" Festival, Banff Centre, One Yellow Rabbit Theatre's High Performance Rodeo, and New Works Calgary are a few venues where the artist has previously performed concerts.
Collaboration is a defining feature of their work; to mention a few, the group members have shared the stage with a jazz trio, several choirs from the Calgary area, music programmes, schools, Indie-rock bands, folk artists, and an accordion player.
In addition to performing in and contributing to the creation of a unique musical with folk artist Lullaby Baxter, they were invited to seminars at Stanford University and the Juilliard School. String Quartet Canada has performed both in concert and at educational outreach programmes in seven out of 10 Canadian provinces. The ensemble visited Alberta in the spring of 2013, Eastern Canada in the fall of 2012, and Western Canada in 2008.
