For more than 18 years, Only Men Aloud has delighted audiences all around the world. In an effort to breathe new life and vitality into the Welsh Male Choir tradition, they were founded in the year 2000.
Strong Vocals, Diverse Music, and Global Record Sales
The men's powerful vocals and their wide-ranging, diversified repertoire have earned them widespread recognition. A typical OMA concert will include a variety of musical genres, including Welsh folk songs and hymns, opera, and musical theatre, as well as swing and pop.
They received an album deal from Universal Records as a result of winning BBC One's Last Choir Standing title eleven years ago. They received a Classical Brit Award for the year's best album in 2010. Since winning the competition, they have performed worldwide tours and have amassed record sales of over 300,000.
Olympic Games in London in 2012 and Other Memorable Performances
The wildly famous ensemble has amassed a sizable fan following across the nation over the years, and it was an honour to be asked to perform at the London 2012 Opening Ceremony right as the Olympic Flame was lighted. An estimated 900 million people watched this concert on television worldwide.
OMA has made countless appearances at outdoor festivals and proms and delivered a number of outstanding performances. They have been on countless television shows, performed twice at The Royal Variety Performance, and are well-known figures at sporting events. In 2010 and 2015, they sang at the opening ceremonies of the Ryder Cup and the Ashes, respectively.
They embarked on a very successful U.S. tour in 2014, which included appearances at the renowned Ravinia Festival in Chicago and the North American Festival of Wales in Minneapolis. OMA now has six studio albums under its belt and is working on a seventh.
At the conclusion of the previous year, Only Men Aloud Favourites was released. They continue their demanding tour and performance schedule all throughout the UK, Europe, and beyond. Recent notable engagements include the group's maiden tour to Asia, which took place in Mumbai, India, and a performance at Cardiff's UEFA Champions League Final Celebrations.
They started their Decade Tour at the end of the year, which culminated in an amazing gala concert in Cardiff to commemorate 10 years since they won Last Choir Standing. They have had performances at Disneyland Paris this year, and they have toured with The Cory Band, the top brass band in the world, at a number of events across the UK.
